RS-485 "network"
I need to set up an RS-485 network with 2 devices and a DL260. Physically, they are all located in the same cabinet. The 2 devices have a DB9 connector, and the DL260 has the high density 15 pin connector.
What is the best way to network them together? Will 3 pigtails work? Skip the 120 ohm resistors since there is no 120 ohm cable? Should I use a CMA15 and try to find somebody who makes a CMA9? Any thoughts on the best way to do this are greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

emabond, a compact installation, but tedious to make, would be to use (2) pigtails and a solder (or crimp) D-sub connector. Use a 15-pin HD pigtail for the PLC, and go the the 1st device and solder the 15-pin HD and a 9-pin pigtail to a solder (or crimp) D-sub connector. This would create your daisy-chain configuration. Yes, you can skip the end-resistors because your length is short. (3 pigtails would not give you a daisy-chain configuration.)
If you find a "CMA9", let me know. I have not be able to find this. L-com carries a 9pin/terminal-block adapter, but it is bulky and too big to hang on a port. |
