  • Productivity MODBUS TCP on ethernet port

I was wondering, do you need to interlock the MODBUS Read and Write in the ladder logic when using the Ethernet port on the P2-550? I know when I use the RS-485 I have to use interlocks to prevent MODBUS requests colliding on the network. Seems to me the Ethernet handles this I can just send the Read/Write request?

With automatic polling and the message queue in the CPU I don't think it is even necessary to interlock the messages in RS485. see help topic P198. I have modbus tcp read and right messages set up with with automatic polling and i don't even have the offset setup and it is working fine.

There is buffer memory that will take care of coms trying to go at the same time.
