  • Hall Effect Sensor to PLC Input

What would it take to wire a cheap flow meter like THIS to a PLC input, like a BRX high speed counter input? Are all hall effect sensors NPN? How can I best convert from NPN to PNP (works better with the rest of my input wiring) and maintain the high speed throughput?

Well, you could buy a signal conditioner from Automation Direct, but would cost about ten times as much as one of those sensors.
I don't know of any reason a Hall effect sensor has to be NPN, and the available information for that sensor doesn't make it clear what is really is. If it is NPN, one could both convert to PNP and shift the voltage level with a PNP transistor and a few resistors.
