  • backup battery swap procedure

I'm writing up procedures for our service techs' future inspections and maintainence. What's the best/proper way to swap the CR2032 backup battery in a BRX, to minimize the chance of data loss? Should 24V power to the PLC remain on during the swap, or should the power be switched off?

I know that the program is fine even if the battery dies, but I need to minimize the chance of loosing data in memory during the battery swap. Arc flash in the cabinet isn't an issue, as the techs can lock out line voltage power to the cabinet while still powering the PLC.

    Thanks,

Varies with temperature and age and such, but the hold time should be about 90 minutes or so unpowered with no battery.

Unpowered it will be. If my techs can change a coin cell in under 90 minutes, I'll start looking for some new techs.

      Thanks!
