  • Operator asking for trend line. C-more Micro

We have a process that uses steam that passes through a couple of zones in a tank. I have it set up right now with RTDs in wells in key places in the tank. I have the values from these displayed on a screen as needle gauges with a text readout under so that the operators can see what the temps in each zone are. They recently asked me if I could add a screen that would trend these values out over time so they can see temperature fluctuations as they correspond to other actions. I assumed the line graph object would be the obvious answer for this but I seem to be missing something in the setup. The graph shows the current values in the 0 position but doesn't trend it across over time. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm not a huge fan of HMI work and would love to get back to my other projects.

You probably already know this but i would double check setup. I would check sample rate setup open object , general tab, two methods are available time or trigger. I have a few setup around plant and use 60 second sample rate for my requirements. This plots even if zero or off scale of axis y high or low. Your other option is trigger tag only plots when triggered. To test I write values in data view window, and trigger tag in data view. if set trigger tag and it has never been triggered nothing will be on plot, if triggered once it will show on plot, it will stay at zero of x axis like it is not working, if triggered again then it will plot on x axis.

You said you have a value showing of 0?
Value of zero and not moving i would think your setup as trigger and only triggered once if value setting at left most x axis.

Hey, Thanks. I'll dive back into it tomorrow morning when I have access to the machine again.

There's a Real Time Graph, which only graphs while the screen with the graph is active, at the predefined refresh interval or trigger.
There's a Line Graph which loads 4 to 24 stored (consecutive) data points from the PLC and refreshes at interval or trigger.

The above post may help you out.
Here is a training series on the C-More Micro HMI:

Thanks Garry. I will see what I can do about getting some approximation of that working on this. Do you know if I am going to have any issues doing this with a Click PLC?

                Hi Nate,
You should not have any trouble doing this with a Click PLC. Just a tag name difference.
Let me know if you need any information.
                regards,
                Garry
